So, after humungous amounts of effort trying to set up a blog using other platforms, I finally decided to do the obvious thing and go with WordPress.
Note to self for future reference: the obvious thing is not necessarily the wrong choice.

Hi, Neat post. There is a problem with your site in internet explorer, would check this… IE still is the market leader and a big portion of people will miss your wonderful writing due to this problem.
Thanks for spotting it and for your nice comments :-) Can you clarify which version of IE you are using and what the problem is?
The site was deliberately written using HTML5 and CSS3, and so far I haven’t made any specific CSS tweaks to take Internet Explorer into account. The theme does incorporate the HTML5 Shiv, which ought to help earlier IE versions handle the site, but it may not do so perfectly :-(
